Apply to be a Blogger or Commentary Writer
Interested in writing for Independent’s blogs The Beacon, or Catalyst, or writing Commentary articles for Independent? We welcome submissions from writers passionate about topics including, but not limited to, education, economy and jobs, environment, global issues, healthcare, housing, and privacy.
We’re eager to hear your voice, whether you have a news piece or a commentary. Our preferred word count falls within the range of 500–1,600 words for articles. Don’t forget to back up your points with citations when necessary; simply embed hyperlinks into the text of a Word .docx or Google Doc file. Please ensure your drafts are in a journalistic format, adhering to principles of accuracy and clarity. Submissions should be written for a general audience of educated readers with an interest in economic and policy issues. We value clear, succinct, and accessible writing.
Drafts submitted for publication must be original, previously unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Final acceptance of each submission is subject to the review and approval of the editors. As a condition of publication of your submission, the Independent Institute shall be the sole owner of these works and of all rights, including copyrights, in such works. Independent grants the author permission to repost their articles through their personal and professional networks. Authors are free to have their articles republished elsewhere, provided that the Independent Institute is acknowledged as the original place of publication.
Please note that at this time, we are not offering compensation for submissions. To submit your draft, please send it to [email protected]. We look forward to reading your insightful contributions!
