David L. Eckles is Associate Professor of Risk Management and Insurance Program in the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia and former Associate Editor of the Journal of Insurance Issues. He received his Ph.D. in risk management and insurance from the Wharton School in the University of Pennsylvania.
Professor Eckles is the recipient of the Terry-Sanford Research Award, Les B. Strickler Innovation in Instruction Award, Sarah H. Moss Fellowship, Delta Insurance Fund Summer Research Award, Berkley Fellowship at St. John's University, Terry College Outstanding Teaching Faculty Award, S.S. Huebner Foundation Fellowship for Insurance Education, Sloan Fellowship, and Spencer Educational Scholarship. He has been President of the Southern Risk and Insurance Association, member of the Board for the Western Risk and Insurance Association, Chair of the American Risk and Insurance Association Kulp-Wright Book Award Committee, Co-Chair of the American Risk and Insurance Association Teaching Awards Committee, and Chair of the American Risk and Insurance Association RMIR Best Feature Article Award Committee.
His many scholarly articles have appeared in such journals as the Journal of Risk and Insurance, North American Actuarial Journal, Journal of Risk Education, Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance, Political Behavior, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Insurance Issues, Public Opinion Quarterly, Insurance and Risk Management, Risk Management and Insurance Review, Federal Reserve Bank of New York Economic Policy Review, and Casualty Actuarial Society E-Forum.
