Rok Novak is a Research Assistant in the Free Market Institute and a second year graduate student in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Texas Tech University. He earned his B.A at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana (2015), and his M.A. in philosophy, politics, and economics at CEVRO Institute (2018). Prior to joining Texas Tech University, Rok was the Program Director of Institute Libertas, a classical liberal think tank in Slovenia, and a regular columnist for Časnik Finance. Though less active than before, he remains affiliated with both organizations.
Rok also spent November 2017 through April 2018 as a visiting research fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research where he worked on questions pertaining to governance institutions and in particular the tragedy of the democratic commons. In the academic year 2017-2018, he was also a Frédéric Bastiat Fellow at Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
