Research Fellow David Legates, co-author of Hot Talk, Cold Science, says despite changing the way businesses operate and spending billions of dollars in cap and trade schemes, we are unable to control the climate. The sun, not carbon dioxide, has a far greater effect on our climate, he says. The climate has always changed and it always will. Climate alarmists and government agencies are regulating and controling more aspects of our lives, making matters worse.

Sr. Fellow Williamson Evers is interviewed on WQAM’s The Voice of Reason with Andy Hooser. It’s called many different names such as “student led instruction” or “collaborative learning” but what ever name you call it, “woke” math is being introduced into California’s math framework and it’s also finding its way into other states. Evers says it’s a tragedy since children need to learn math in math class, not politics. Learning math is critical for their future employment, especially children whose first language isn’t English. Social justice lessons in math can begin in kindergarten and go through grade 12, says Evers.

Each person must be treated individually in order to solve such a big problem. These services are outlined in the documentary film and also in a policy report published by the Independent Institute.

In this thirty-fifth episode of Independent Outlook, David Theroux, Williamson Evers, and Graham Walker carefully examine the war in Ukraine, the folly of those pressuring for U.S. engagement, and how best to end this dangerous and horrific conflict; Elon Musk and the prospects for free speech at Twitter; the culture war and Disney's folly; media bias and cover-up with the Hunter Biden laptop; Woke Math; Critical Race and Gender Theory; and more.

Sr. Fellow Williamson Evers appears on the Zeb Bell radio show on KBAR in Twin Falls, ID. Politics is getting in to math instruction in California. Why is Che Guevara introduced in math problems? Why is ancient Mayan math introduced? These progressive education styles are being introduced into math classes in K-12 in California and is called “self discovery” and “student led” instruction among other terms. Teachers are not leading the classroom and math is to be “discovered” by students on their own terms. It's no surprise, says Evers, that American children are falling behind other nations in math skills.

Independent Institute Publications and Public Affairs Counsel Christopher Briggs talks about his family's ordeal, treating his young daughter's cancer under the Affordable Care Act. His family was twice denied coverage for her cancer under Obamacare. The answer, Briggs says, is to repeal the ACA and the restoration of actuarially sound insurance products curated to individual needs.
