Research Fellow Robert Whaples, editor of Pope Francis and the Caring Society is interviewed on the Son Rise Morning Show and talks about the book which is an answer to the call for a dialogue on charity, poverty, and the environment. Whaples discusses how a group of mostly economists were brought together to describe how capitalism can bring more people out of poverty and help the environment, better than centralized government programs.

Research Fellow Vicki Alger, author of Failure: The Federal Misedukation of America's Children , appears on the Mike Schikman radio show on WSVA in Virginia to talk about school choice advances. Alger recently published a Policy Report, Customized Learning for California, which shows how Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) and tax-credit scholarships offer parents more choices for their children as an alternative to their assigned public schools.

Sr. Fellow Lawrence McQuillan appears on the nationally syndicated Lars Larson radio show to talk about the latest "winner" of the California Golden Fleece Award, the California Department of Water Resources. The DWR was "honored" for their mismanagement of the Oroville Dam, which threatened hundreds of thousands earlier this year when record rains damaged the spillway of the dam. McQuillan details the history of the dam and its faulty maintenance over the years. He recommends that DWR should no longer operate California’s 44 state-owned dams and suggests private water companies or private irrigation districts take over.
