Sr. Fellow Williamson Evers appears on The Education Exchange podcast with Paul E. Peterson to discuss California Gov. Gavin Newsoms veto of AB 331, a bill that would have mandated a course in ethnic studies as a California high school graduation requirement, starting in 2029-30. Newsom said the model curriculum was unbalanced and needed extensive revision. The curriculum would have taught students that capitalism is not a system of private property and investment, but that capitalism is merely a system of exploitation of labor. This is a similar view held by Karl Marx.
