On July 6th, the Independent Institute will launch a new satirical YouTube video seriesLove Govwhich personifies the folly, cost, and intrusiveness of government policies, and promotes the organizations government cost calculator mobile application.
Love Gov is a way to help anyone, especially Millennials, understand the federal governments ever-expanding reach into personal lives, says David J. Theroux, Founder and President of Independent Institute. Its a lighthearted approach to reach audiences on a personal level, and inspire them to learn more and take action.
The series, which will premiere on YouTube and is being produced by Independent in association with Emergent Order, depicts the federal government as an overbearing boyfriend Scott Gov Govinsky who foists his good intentions on a hapless, idealistic college student, Alexis.
Each of the Love Gov series five episodes follows Alexiss relationship with Gov as his intrusions and interventions wreak (hilarious) havoc on her life, professionally, financially, and socially. Gov inadvertently creates excessive student loan debt, expensive housing, underemployment, inadequate and expensive healthcare, and commits personal privacy violations. Alexiss loyal friend Libby tries to help her see Gov for what he really isa menace. But will Alexis come to her senses in time? Tune in to find out!
The Love Gov video series also connects with the MyGovCost mobile app, that enables users to estimate their lifetime federal tax liability and amounts that users would have earned had their federal taxes been instead privately invested and earned a modest six percent return. The free mobile app can be downloaded on July 6, just before the video series is released.
