Outrage directed toward businesses that take out insurance on the lives of rank-and-file employees, without their knowledge or benefit, is misplaced. The real scandal of so-called “janitors insurance” is not some harm it does to workers, who do not pay any of the premiums, but that U.S. tax laws reward companies for such inefficient activities.
