In this issue of The Independent Review, Ryan H. Murphy finds interesting and important parallels between China, Hungary, and Israel, three countries ranking low on economic freedom and comparatively high on the State Economic Modernity Index. Unfortunately, his decision to label them as cases of actually existing socialism is questionable.
