James Gwartney (1940-2024) spent his career spreading knowledge about the benefits of economic freedom. He co-authored two widely-adopted textbooksEconomics: Private and Public Choice and Common Sense Economics; pioneered empirical analysis of the positive relationship between economic freedom and growth with the Economic Freedom of the World Index; and was a beloved classroom teacher and mentor for over half a century.
