Sr. Fellow Randall Holcombe, author of Liberty in Peril, sees threats to four reedom, but in general, he says, we are more free than just a generation ago. We have more choices. Tax rates are lower. People can easily move to states where they are even more free, but what are the threats to our freedoms? Holcombe recently wrote an article “Capitalism!” which explains why it is the greatest system to lift people out of poverty.
Research Fellow Randall Holcombe, author of Liberty in Peril, talks about his recent blog post on the Federal Reserve and what mistakes were made that led to high inflation rates. He explains how the Covid epidemic, and the government’s response to it, worsened inflation by shutting down commerce. The Fed acted politically, he says, instead of monetarily before inflation rose in 2022.

Research Fellow Randall Holcombe is a guest on the Larry Conners USA Radio Show on KTRS St. Louis. Holcombe discusses President Obama’s push for shorter prison sentences and why the move is a mistake. The war on drugs has been waged for 35 years. Drugs are impossible to control and their use should not be illegal, according to Holcombe. Transactions among consenting adults shouldn’t be prosecuted, he says. Only if property crimes or violence occurs, should drug users be prosecuted. Nov. 12, 2015
